The goal of your first application is to get a call back, not tell your whole life story. Say what job you want, your experience, tickets, location and availability.

Good application message

Hi, I am applying for the labourer role in Brisbane. I have a white card, PPE, reliable transport and can start this week. I have done civil labouring and site clean-up work. I am available for a call today. Thanks, [Name].

Bad application habits

• Only writing “interested”.
• Sending angry messages about past employers.
• Not answering the phone after applying.
• Applying for work you cannot travel to.
• Leaving out tickets the job clearly asks for.
