Apply for jobs the right way
Learn how to send a short, respectful job application that tells the employer you are ready and easy to contact.
Keep the first message short
The goal of your first application is to get a call back, not tell your whole life story. Say what job you want, your experience, tickets, location and availability.
Good application message
Hi, I am applying for the labourer role in Brisbane. I have a white card, PPE, reliable transport and can start this week. I have done civil labouring and site clean-up work. I am available for a call today. Thanks, [Name].
Bad application habits
- Only writing “interested”.
- Sending angry messages about past employers.
- Not answering the phone after applying.
- Applying for work you cannot travel to.
- Leaving out tickets the job clearly asks for.
